GET INVOLVED
To truly serve our community as your Regional Councillor beyond the election, I am committed to keeping an open door and encouraging your active participation. I am always happy to connect if you want to:
- Learn how local government works
- Ask a question about my platform
- Seek clarity on an upcoming staff report to Council
- Invite me to attend a meeting in your neighbourhood to listen to and address your concerns
- Schedule a coffee chat with me to discuss Council priorities
Whatever your reason for reaching out, I will make myself available to the community outside typical business hours, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Most importantly, even if you disagree with a decision I have made as your elected representative, my door remains open. I am always willing to learn, adapt, and improve my leadership to meet community expectations.

Join My Civic Leadership Volunteer Program
Join Salman Zafar’s civic leadership volunteer program to learn how municipal governments work, develop civic leadership skills, and help engage and educate our community. Through this program, you will receive specialized training on municipal governance, infrastructure asset management, local budgets, and climate adaptation. You will then apply that knowledge by directly engaging the community and documenting their input and/or concerns on various issues.
Program Details & Commitment:
- I will maintain a strict Code of Conduct to ensure a respectful, productive environment for all participants and community members.
- Volunteers who complete the mandatory virtual training sessions and at least 35 hours of community engagement will receive signed volunteer hours and a formal Certificate of Completion.
- I am committed to providing a safe, educational environment for our youth. Parents and guardians of high school students are warmly invited to connect with me directly to discuss the program prior to their child applying.
